Brace yourselves as the 6th Sydney Fringe Festival colour the streets of Sydney with culture and creativity the whole month of September. No longer in the safety of their underground spaces, the festival will be showcasing over 300 productions with the best independent local artists, inspirers, orators, and practitioners in over 50 venues.
Explore each venue and discover incredible local artists. Find them in pop-up spaces and shop fronts. See them in street activations and in independent venues. Witness their craft and experience culture right in the heart of Sydney starting with FRINGE IGNITE!
The largest independent arts festival in New South Wales opens with a bang. In partnership with APRA AMCOS and the Live Music Office, the festival presents FRINGE IGNITE: Heat the Street Erskineville where visitors can enjoy live music and performances.
Curated by Rai Thistlethwayte, APRA AMCOS ambassador and Thirsty Merc front man, the lineup includes Betty & Oswald, Dean Lewis, Marcello Maio, Martha Marlow, Matt Formatt, Morgan Evans, Nacho Pop & Stale Biskitz Crew, On The Stoop, Phil Stack, Simon Day, Tina Harrod, and Woodes.
Besides live music, keep your eyes peeled as artists will be popping up all over town for the POP UP FRINGE. If you see someone in shiny silver jumpsuit with a Mohawk hairstyle, that’s Peter Baecker. This Berlin-based performance artist will merge dance, DJing and performance art that both adults and kids will love.
Catch him in Erskineville on September 5, in level 2 Broadway Sydney from September 7 to 20, and in Fringe Kids Marrickville Town Hall for Peter's 80s Kids Disco on September 21 to 26.
Also popping - POP UP THEATRE AND PERFORMANCE! Catch The Kings Collective’s re-imagining of 'The Wonderful World of Dissocia' by Anthony Neilson from September 16 to 30 at Dissocia, a secret location. For clues, email [email protected]
For an unforgettable performance, watch Tess de Quincey perform the full piece of the spellbinding Moondance. Be mesmerised by the vivid dance accompanied by abstract imagery, and ethereal sounds on September 4 to 19 at the Erskineville Anglican Church.
