This May, the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney will be taken over by Intel Extreme Masters 2019 - the longest-running pro gaming competition in the world.
Sponsored by Intel, the Intel Extreme Masters - or IEM - has held international competitions since its inaugural event in 2007. Each year has welcomed a brand new season, in which eSports competitors and pro gamers come to take part, as well as spectate, a number of pro gaming tournaments, in which winners are awarded titles as well as huge money prizes. Over the years, tournaments have included globally-played FPS and RPG games such as World of Warcraft, Counter-Strike, Quake Live, DotA, League of Legends, Starcraft III, and more.
This year at the Qudos Bank Arena, the 2019 Intel Extreme Masters will see 16 international pro gaming teams go head-to-head in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive - all with the aim to win from a large prize pool of $250,000.
The 2019 Intel Extreme Masters will mark the third consecutive year of stadium-scale pro gaming eSports in Australia, and is expected to reel in eSports fanatics as well as casual and pro gamers from all over the world.
